They can also call a special number to personally request for it. Nintendo used the online messaging feature of the console to send this information. The customers dont have to worry about the shipping of the protective sleeves because it is also for free and an additional strengthened wrist straps comes with it.

According to the report, Nintendo spent an amount close to two billion yen or an estimated 18 million dollars just to supply the Wii remote jackets and wrist straps world wide. Though it was a large amount of money, Nintendo hoped that this event would not affect the financial status of their company.

Since the event, Nintendo then released consoles Wii remote with the Wii remote jacket. And because of the safety issues several third parties also sell out their own version of Wii remote jacket. But the free jackets from Nintendo is much padded and made to be easy to remove.
