Nice shiny black Wiimote with motionplus — what’s not to like?

One issue though is the jacket is a little thicker than the old clear ones, and seems to block charging with the Nyko inductive charger (Wii Charge Base Induction Charger), as of December 2009 anyway. If you actually use the jackets and have an inductive charger, you might want to wait for this to get resolved.

okay, i admit it. i only got a black wiimote & nunchuck because for the coolness factor, and i honestly felt a little silly for doing so.

no more! the matte finish on the back make the controls more comfortable to a surprising degree. it was a doubly nice surprise since i didn’t know about the matte finish. if you play without a jacket or skin, this is a serious bonus.

another shock was how clear the wiimote’s speaker sounds, compared to my originals.

the one tiny downside — i’m using rechargable wiimote packs, the kind that comes with new battery covers. since these are white and glossy, they ruin the look and feel of the black wiimote. hopefully Energizer will make ones that match at some point, but for now i’ll stick with AAs

as for other accessories, the black wiimote & nunchuck look really darn cool in the white Zapper gun …

Nintendo’s Wii Remote has proved to be quite the revolutionary thing. It provided a new and fresh experience, and, with the help of Wii Sport, sold the Wii to millions of homes. It has an Infrared Pointer, motion sensing accelerometers, and a mini speaker on the front. The Wiimote has since been proven as a flashlight, a light saber, a katana, a steering wheel, a gun, etc.

Now what you get in this neat $50 package is one black Wiimote along with a black newly redesigned “vest”, “jacket”, “sleeve”, or “condom” for use with the stock Wiimote (sans Wii Motion Plus). You also get a black Wii Motion Plus device and a redesigned jacket for use with the Wiimote and the Motion Plus.

The Wii Motion plus addition here is a big deal for several reasons. First of all, is the fact that this device has a stand alone price of $20, and when combined with the stand alone Wiimote ($40), you end up paying $10 more than what you would have you bought this combo pack. Second, is that Wiimotion Plus has become a new standard for several games, and more are being made all the time. Said games will REQUIRE motion plus to play, so you might as well get it now.

Several games that require or are enhanced with WIIMotion Plus are

    -Wii Sports Resort

    -Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10

    -Grand Slam Tennis

    -Red Steel 2

One of the first things people will notice about this new remote is obviously the color. Nintendo has swapped the sleek iPod inspired white for a very sexy black. The buttons have remained the same color (red for power, blue for Home), but those match very fluidly with the new black exterior.

The functionality is the same, there are no new features, no noticeable improvements, at least on the technical side. The actual plastic material has been changed though, for the better. The top side remains with a glossy finish, but the underside, instead of mere plastic, there is now a very nice matte finish. It provides a better grip, and you’ll find yourself with less sweaty hands. (note that this may be case with new White Wiimotes as well, but this is the first Wiimote ive bought in 2 years, so i wouldn’t know).

All in all, im very happy with my purchase. You get a Wiimote, WM+, and two “jackets” for just $50. You save some cash, and bag the WM+ that will be eventually needed.

Product works great. We now have three Wii remotes and the black remotes is the one of choice for the kids. The Wii MotionPlus and nunchucks works just as well as the original. If you are looking for a way to differiate your remotes, this remote is a great choice.

This came with TWO black silicone skins, one for the wiimote without teh wii-motion-plus,a nd one that fits over both.

The wii-motion plus is great, it makes all games that receive motion info, accept your moves a little more realistically, and it allows for the nanchaku to be inserted under it.

The Black wii-mote has a sort of matte-finish on the bottom of it, removing the need for any grips.

Overall, it is just as good, if not better, than the older white wii-motes, and it shows almost no dead skin gnk that the other wii-motes do…

If you want a new wii-mote… I wold suggest getting this one… It rocks!

I’m glad that this black wiimote comes with the motionplus bundle and silicone sleeve that fits around the motion plus. If you have a white motionplus wiimote, you know what to expect here. It is black. It is a wiimote.

You also get a silicone sleeve that fits around just the normal old wiimote part, too. I liked that the wrist strap was black as well.

I decided to get two blacks to go with my two working white ones, so that I can have four controllers that all look slightly different: black with black skin, white with white skin, black with white skin, white with black skin. Now everyone knows which is “their” wiimote.

I purchased one of the pink and blue Wii MotionPlus Bundle’s. I love the color. The color is true to the picture–on the blue it is like a turquoise. It would be nice if the MotionPlus was the same color as the wiimote–but it is still nice the way it is.

The Bundle comes with 2 clear skins–one to use if the motionplus is attached and one to use if it is not.

I also like having the different colors as it is easier to know who’s remote is whose right away.

And, I think the colors are fun!! I personally like the blue better than the pink–but i like them both.

When you have the bundle, it is great to get the Wii Energizer Flat Panel 4x Induction Charger as it can charge the units while the motionplus is on rather than having to take it on and off. Just a helpful item that i discovered because i hate to take those MotionPlus things off.

About a couple years ago I heard Nintendo was planning to dish out a black Wii. I told myself I’d wait and hold off the white one, but what with all the great games already out, I couldn’t resist.

As with most Wii purchasers, I added another Wii remote (or “Wiimote”) and Nunchuk. The white’s fine and all, but I really wanted the colored controllers as in the initial advertisements for Nintendo’s Wii.

Remember the lime green and red ones?

Nevertheless, with two white controllers, I really didn’t need any more. That is, until the black one finally came out.

I was initially baffled upon spotting the device because I hadn’t heard anything about its release, and just happened to stumble upon some at my local Target. I asked the nearby clerk, “When did these come out?” but he didn’t know (apparently they came out a week prior to this review). I rushed home and placed an order for the Wiimote and Nunchuk through Amazon.com (price-sensitive, I wanted the best deal; I could wait for Amazon.com to deliver).

The black Wiimote feels and functions superbly. Sure, it’s the same as the white one albeit differently colored, but the blackness just gives it a supreme look–in my opinion, at least. The front side with the majority of the buttons has a glossy finish, which emits a radiant shine, whilst the back side with the battery door has a matte look and feel. The gloss may get dirty in the long run with fingerprints and skin oil, but for now it’s staying shiny. The black rubber jackets may eventually attract dust and lint, but, again, for now they’re as clean as can be.

Also, and this may just be the fact that it’s still new, the speaker sounds louder and crisper than my other Wiimotes’ speakers. I thought I accidentally had it on a louder setting, but when I checked my Wii it was the same setting as my white ones, so I figured Nintendo improved the sound chips.

In this package you get the Wiimote, MotionPlus, batteries, wrist strap and two rubber jackets–one to hold the MotionPlus and one to hold the Wiimote without (which I’m currently using for New Super Mario Bros. Wii). Plus, you end up saving on this bundle over the white set, which can only be purchased separately as of this review. On Amazon.com, you’ll end saving $5 or so.

All in all, it’s the same ol’ Wiimote, but in black. It has that new, stiff button feel, which I personally like, but give it some time to break in.

If you like black, opt for this controller. This is my “special” one that no one but me will use; friends and family can use my other white ones.

Oh, and Nintendo has some blue and pink bundles coming in February 2010 (but with white jackets and MotionPluses).

The Wii motionplus bundle is a good deal for two reasons: 1) It saves you money on 3 items that would cost a lot more if each one was bought separately 2) The black remote makes its white predecessor pale in comparison in the looks department.

The motionplus add-on is a must if you play games such as Wii sports resort, EA sports active, Wii fit etc. that rely almost completely on motion tracking for gameplay. Playing fitness games without them can be frustrating when you are waving your controller frantically trying to get a response, while your character is in a world of their own. However, you can easily get away without the motionplus in other games like Metroid or The Legend of Zelda, but it’s still a welcome addition nonetheless.

The controller works fine and has given me absolutely no problems so far. If you’re considering skipping the motionplus to save some money, my advice is not to do so. Most of the newer games are almost required to have the motionplus and it seems to be a trend that will continue well into the future as long as the Wii console remains viable.

Bottom line is that this is a worthwile investment if you need an extra controller for your Wii console.

The Motion Plus is virtually free at the current sale price, there’s no tax and shipping is free … Ummm, What’s not to like?

Need another Wiimote … get this one. Simple.
