The Wii Console comes with a game package called "Wii Sports," the package including tennis, golf, baseball and bowling games, that will put the console's through its paces.

Backwards Compatibility

Nintendo does a superb job of building in the backwards compatibility in all their products. This is quality and reliability built in the cornerstone of Nintendo’s marching orders. The new models play all the old favorite games from Nintendo’s extensive 20 year old library. The new console drive is compatible with the GameCube discs and some of the choice titles from the original NES from the 80s. The compatibility goes back to the Nintendo 64 and even the old games are available for download through the “Virtual Console” and the run $5 to $10 bucks.

Virtual Console

Another feather in Nintendo’s cap, the Virtual Console will also make available a few titles from SNES console contemporaries, Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx 16.

Wi-Fi Enabled

There are some new Wi-Fi-enabled titles in development that will use Nintendo's newly-announced wireless gaming network, WiiConnect24. This worldwide network will put Nintendo players in a comfortable, inviting environment in which they can get together and compete. The network will deliver game updates, even when the Wii is powered down. And as you would expect, Wii can communicate with the Nintendo DS mobile gaming system wirelessly.
